TWO-YEAR COLLABORATION WITH FISCHOFF

In an unprecedented collaboration, the Fischoff National Chamber Music Association, the Euclid Quartet, and School City of Mishawaka (Indiana) have joined forces to accomplish something new and lasting within the Mishawaka community. During this two-year Visiting Artist Residency, the Euclid Quartet will introduce chamber music to seven elementary schools through Fischoff’s S.A.M. I Am (Stories And Music) Program as well as help build the elementary string programs, the John Young Middle School Orchestra, and the Mishawaka High School Orchestra.
With this project, we hope to raise artistic quality in Mishawaka schools, introduce chamber music to new audiences, strengthen Mishawaka’s string programs, and forge connections that will endure beyond the two-year collaboration.
Activities
In each of the two years of this partnership, Fischoff will present the Euclid Quartet in a series of fourteen programs in Mishawaka’s elementary, middle, and high schools. With Fischoff's unique S.A.M. I Am (Stories And Music) programs, we'll target young readers in grades K-4 as we re-enact a children’s book through words and music, reaching almost 100 classrooms. For the middle and high school orchestras, we will present master-classes and workshops to improve musical skills and artistry as well as boost self-confidence among students.
The first year of the project culminated in an All-City Orchestra Concert featuring James Leatherbarrow's Symphony of String Instruments with the Mishawaka string students and Euclid Quartet. In the end, we reached over 3,900 people in the first year of this collaboration.

We look forward to building lasting relationships with Mishawaka’s students, acting as role models, and encouraging students to pursue music, take private lessons, and perhaps consider attending college – to think about a better future.
