Bartok Project

We're currently in the middle of a multi-year project to record all six of Bartok's string quartets.  These works are considered to be the most influential string quartet repertoire of the 20th Century -- great works of art that all four of us are passionate about.

Current State

Recording for the first disc (Quartets 2, 4, and 6) was completed during an intense eight-day stretch in August of 2008, at Sauder Concert Hall, Goshen College, in Goshen, Indiana, with producer and engineer Da Hong Seetoo.  We were fantastically lucky to find such a great-sounding (and quiet) hall right in our back yard, and to be able to work with such a gifted (and very picky) producer.

Da Hong sent us the first edit in September of 2008.  After much critical listening on our part, we recently replied with a "wish list" of changes and corrections.  We now wait to see what the next version will be like.

Funding

This two-disc recording project was kick-started with a grant from Indiana University South Bend.  Community support will be needed to finish the project.  You can help!  Contact us to find out more.
